TIPPING SERVER NEWS

Postby Alicia Stella on January 31st, 2010, 2:44 am

After reading all of your suggestions and talking with many of you personally I have mapped out the next update for the Tipping Server and there will be Employee Work Logs added.

I will still release updated dance furniture first so they can be used with the Tipping Server. I apologize for the wait. It's coming soon.

In the next Tipping Server update an entirely new section will be added to the Web Tools similar to the Statistics section. It will display how long employees were logged into jars and the log in/out times. Each "session" of time starting when user logs into a jar and ending when they're logged out will be in a master list. Sort the list by factors such as most time worked, tips collected, average tip, etc and display from a day, week, month, or year. You will be able to view details for each "session" including session length, total tipped during period, and a full list of all the tip transactions to the employee during session.

There will be lots more added over time, but I wanted to specifically let everyone know that I am working on this new feature thanks to all your awesome input. Once the new feature is added the price for the base Tipping Server may raise from L$2000 to L$2400, although I am not certain yet. Don't worry if you already own it. All owners that have purchased it prior will not have to pay the difference. New versions will be sent to you automatically as soon as they are ready.

Will this also include a way for the employee to check their own time? The big question I always get is "how many hours have I put in this month?", and with 80+ employees, I get asked that a LOT.

The update sounds great Alicia. I am finding that I use the web tools quite often and since I am not able to be inworld as much, it's a wonderful way to check up on things.

A question about when the update is pushed out... Will the existing logs stay intact or will everything be cleared out? ( I hope not..hehe)

Not this next update, but the one after that will be centered around web tools and more features for the employees themselves. Employees will be able to check their own earnings reports and hours worked on the web tools site anytime and also be able to see all transactions from a session after they log out of a jar. Details for these features are still being worked out (in my head.) Most importantly I must complete a new way for avatars to signup for this website from within Second Life. This way usernames will always be exact as they are in SL (CaSe SeNsItIvE) and they will be verified instantly upon signup. -- I may add optional weekly email reports for employees too.

All data Transaction data currently on record should remain intact during the update.
